Multiple datasources in SSRS 2005 reports
Is is possible to have multiple analysis Services datasources for a single
report? I want to be able to display measures from both cubes on the same
report with a common dimension without having to redesign my cubes.
Thanks!
BrianThe short answer is yes, but you won't be able to display the measures
side-by-side in the same region if this is what you are after. That's
because you cannot join RS datasets. That said, you can have two regions,
each bound to its own dataset. If you have a virtual cube and your MDX query
pulls data from both cubies than you should be OK.

Multiple authentication methods in scale-out deployment
Will SSRS 2008 support multiple authentication methods in a scale-out deployment (intranet / extranet scenario)? Books Online (July CTP) seems inconsistent in addressing this.
In the entry Server Architecture (Reporting Services) BOL states:
If your deployment requires multiple authentication providers, you can configure a scale-out deployment. For more information, see Planning for Scale-Out Deployment (Reporting Services).
When forwarding to the indicated link Planning for Scale-Out Deployment (Reporting Services), BOL states:
Report server instances in a scale-out deployment must have the same type of authentication extension. If you created a custom authentication extension, you must deploy and use that extension on all nodes.
Because of this restriction, you cannot configure a scale-out deployment to support simultaneous intranet and extranet access to the same report server database through separate report server instances where each instance is configured for different authentication types and authorization rules.
Which is it?
Regards,
Scott
It should be the second one (not supported). I will forward your feedback to the documentation folks.
Multiple authentication providers is under consideration for a post-2008 release.

Multi-Parameter (Select All) Detection in SSRS 2005?
I'd like to know if SSRS provides a way to determine if all rows are selected from a multi_valued parameter dropdown list? I thought of how I could do this programmatically, but didn't want to build something that is already in the product (if it exists that is). Thanks.
There is no built-in functionality, but here are some ideas:
* if the multi value parameter has a pre-defined (constant) list of valid values, you know how many values are available for selection. The report parameters in RS 2005 expose a new property called .Count which tells you the count of selected parameter values (e.g. =Parameters!P1.Count). Hence, you could compare the count of the selected values with the count of the total values.
* if the multi value parameter has a dataset-based valid values list, you could just use the same field in a CountDistinct aggregate function to determine how many valid values are available, e.g. =CountDistinct(Fields!A.Value) and compare it again with the Count of selected values.
