Multiple item selection from a queried report parameter list

I am trying to mirror a report originally published through another non MS
reporting application which allows multiple selection from a query parameter
list by use of the normal Windows 'Ctrl' or 'Shift' keys in cojunction with
the mouse click.
This method does not appear to function with SQL Reporting Services. The
expanded list automatically closes on selection of one item.
Is there another method of performing multiple selection from a list. This is something which needs to be added reporting services. You can NOT do
a multi selection... About the best thing you can do is allow your user to
enter a delimited list... It's really a good option, but about the only
option right now...

Multiple Image Load

How can I upload several pictures at once to use in a SQL Report? There are
over 6,000 pictures that I need available for a form letter that will include
a picture of the product referenced in the letter.
If I can load all of them at once into the project and reference them by
name connected from a stored procedure to the name of the picture, that would
be fine.
Someone on another board it was suggested I store the source in a SQL
database, but it hasn't worked when I try it that way.> Someone on another board it was suggested I store the source in a SQL

Do you mean the you are storing OLE images in a SQL Database - and if you
view them say with Microsoft Access from the SQL table - you can see the
image ok, but when you try to put these images in a Reporting Services
Report you can't see them ?
If this is the case then you need to strip the first 105 chars from the
image to remove the OLE Header when trying to view the image in Reporting
Services.
We deal with this on pages 364 - 365 in the "Hitchhiker's Guide to SQL
Server 2000 Reporting Services"
What I would say though is that you may be better off hosting the images on
an IIS server and referencing the URL in the database, rather than storing
image blob data in a SQL Server 2000 database.

Multiple Grouping Collpase Issue

Hi,
Im running RS2000 and here is my problem:
I have a report that basically displays a multi-grouped report that
looks like this:
WEBSITE1
--ITEM CATEGORY1
--ITEM TYPE1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn3
--ITEM TYPE2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn3
--ITEM TYPE3
--ITEM INFORMATIOn1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn3
--ITEM CATEGORY2
--ITEM TYPE1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn1
--ITEM INFORMATIOn2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn3
--ITEM TYPE2
--ITEM INFORMATIOn1
etc.
Now what I have as the initial state looks like :
[+]WEBSITE1
[+]WEBSITE2
whent 1 of those are expanded it should look like this:
[ -]WEBSITE1
--[+]ITEM CATEGORY1
--[+]ITEM CATEGORY1
[+]WEBSITE2
And it expands all the way down to item information.
The problem occurs on startup, It shows website 1 and website 2 on 2
different pages.
What's worse, it shows them a few pages apart since there is "invisble"
content in the pages in between.
Is there a way to make the report on one page ONLY?
1) I know there is 1-page HTML option
2) The try to make the report on 1 page property didnt work
Is there some other way to do this?Check to make sure you do not have each group start a new page...

issue of it going on to the 3rd or 4th page.
I would have thought that the initial state of collapsed would have placed
it on 1 page though. Guess it was being intelligent and expected the user
to expand all pages.

Multiple grouping and blank pages

I have a report with 2 types of grouping. The first is monthly and the second is basically a grand total. I want to have the report with 1 page per month with the grand total on the last page. Everything is in one table object, with two groups in the table footer.

The problem that I have is that if I put "Page Break After" on my Monthly grouping the total is going to end up on a different page at the end. If I put "Page Break Before" I get a blank page at the start. Anyone got a idea of how to get myself out of this?

Make sure the table starts from the top of the report, i.e. don't leave any empty space before the table. Then you shouldn't get the blank page.

We are working on improving this (adding a "page break between" feature) for the future releases.

Multiple grouping / sorting problem

I've got trouble with a report I'm building up that isn't sorting properly.
It's an invoice report, which displays all invoices for a given day, however, the order lines aren't grouped by invoice, they are by article type and article. Crystal however still sorts by invoice number and then applies my grouping.
This results in multiple entries for a given type if there are more than one invoice with the same type on a given day. How can I convince CR to not sort by invoice. Oh, no I'm not using a querry, I've got a dataset with all relevant information linked to CR with an XML Schema.

Here is a breakdown of it:

InvoiceDate
- Element Type
- Invoice Element
-Invoice Element Sub categories.

And this is how it displays:

7-9-2006
Accomodation
Hotel
2PK Room
Flight
Return Ticked Paris
Business Class
[ and now comes the 2nd invoice on that day ]
Accomodation
Motel
Bride Suit
Flight
Return Ticket London
Economy class

What it SHOULD be:

7-9-2006
Accomodation
Hotel
2PK Room
Motel
Bride Suit
Flight
Return Ticked Paris
Business Class
Return Ticket London
Economy class

Anybody got any ideas?
I'm using Visual basic .Net 2003 and the crystal reports editor that came with that.Right... something I forgot to mention.
This report can also be used to sort on depareture date.. which the original builder had added as a group along with invoice date, and displayed the one that he needed.. ofcourse crystal still GROUPS by this group even if it's not visible. hence my sort order got messed up.

Multiple Group/Detail Records are not showing

I have a report with a page header, a report header and footer, and many group headers, one group / detail line, and some group footers.

The problem is that only one record per ID is allowed in the one group/detail line. Both records per ID will show in data view but not in the report output. I do not have "allow duplicates" selected anywhere that I am aware of.

Where else can I look?

Thanks,
cj

I assume you are using table in your report. Is your table detail grouped on ID? If so, all rows with the same ID will be grouped into one. Try removing the grouping in Details Grouping and see if you get all records displayed.

multiple formulas when suppressing a detail section

I have a report, details a and details b. i need details b to show when a series of formulas are met.

I am having trouble getting this to work:

{loan_main.datepurchased} <> {?Date Purchased} AND not ({loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*")

AND is not performing an AND...

help me please.

thank you :eek: 'AND is not performing an AND...' ?

As you said, you want to show the records when

{loan_main.datepurchased} <> {?Date Purchased} AND not ({loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*")

Right?

I've created a similar formula and it works but in the apposit way: the records which met such a condition are suppressed.
So...... if you want to show those records may be you will change your formula like that:

{loan_main.datepurchased} = {?Date Purchased} AND {loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*" //?

...or correct me if I understood something wrong, please.|||You are correct. I need to show records that meet the criteria, thus i am suppressing records that are on either side.

so, i need to suppress all records

{loan_main.datepurchased} <> {?Date Purchased} AND not ({loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*")

so i would get all loans that are purchased on the date entered upon running the report AND all loans that reivname like wells...

i hope this makes sense.

i am suppressing all the records that do not meet the daily criteria.

thank you|||I've understood what you've written to mean that you want the records with a purchase date of ?DatePurchased, (note the comma) and you want names like wells. i.e. the date is irrelevant for 'wells'.
If so, you want an OR, not an AND.

I find it's easier to write the formula for what records you actually want, and then NOT the whole thing for the suppression formula. e.g.
not( <what you want> )|||I appreciate all help i can get ;)

is it possible to select only the records i want for one section? detail section A is working great, i am having this problem when working with detail section B.

If i can only select records for details section B, i am set...

if not, then besides having two reports, this is it... i think...

i have tried the OR. I need all records that are LIKE 'wells' and date selected is the date purchased.

any help and all help is appreciated.
thank you|||I'm afraid it's still not clear (to me!).

"so i would get all loans that are purchased on the date entered upon running the report AND all loans that reivname like wells..."
The stress on the AND implies to me that you want the union of two sets of data:
1) date entered
2) like wells
i.e. the date is irrelevant for the wells' records, get them all regardless of their date. For non-wells records, base it on the date.

But "I need all records that are LIKE 'wells' and date selected is the date purchased." implies to me that you want
1) date entered and like wells
i.e. only records which satisfy both criteria at once, being wells records for that date.

So which is it?

Maybe you could start at the beginning for us to understand better. e.g. what's in your record selection formula, what you want in detailsA, what you want in detailsB, and whether one record can appear in both detail sections or if they are mutually exclusive.
If mutually exclusive the suppression formulas would be almost the same, e.g. one would be "<formula>" while the other would be "not(<formula>)".|||yes, sorry for the confusion - this report confused me in the beginning too...

I need all records that fit both criteria, datepurchased and like wells.

not one or the other, has to be the date and like wells...

that is why i am trying to use the AND.

hope this makes sense.

thank you...

details A has no formula attached, it shows all records.

thank you|||So I think we've decided that the records you want to show in detailsB are the ones that match both criteria at once :)
The ones you want are therefore:
{loan_main.datepurchased} = {?Date Purchased} AND {loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*"

So the suppression formula is:
NOT (
{loan_main.datepurchased} = {?Date Purchased} AND {loan_query.reivname} like "*wells*"
)

And as someone suggested in a different forum, can either of these fields be NULL?
Also, could 'wells' actually be 'Wells' or 'WELLS' etc.?|||Thank you sooooo much. it worked... :)

i appreciate your help and patience.

thank you sooo much again. it means a lot for the help...|||Glad we got there!

And the reason I always use not(<what I want>) for suppression is because trying to work out the inverse yourself is messy.
e.g. your requirement was effectively "a=x AND b like y"
I believe the logical inverse of that is
not(A<>x OR not(b like y))
which is nearly what you started with, but is nowhere near as easy to understand as what you ended up with.|||I agree. I havent really worked much with crystal, so it is still a learning curve for me... i will deffo use the way you suggested for any future reports.

thank you

Multiple Filters in an AD HOC report.

There are many business users in my office who would like an AD HOC reporting
system. I am not in a position to install the reporting server right now
suite and check it out myself. I have seen some presentations and i like the
tool for the most part ...I have some questions if anyone can help...
1. Can the users select two tables for a report and manually specify the
join column between the two.
2. Can the user specify more than one condition in the filter. Like Name = X AND Address = Y AND Job = Z where Name, Address, Job can be columns from
more than 1 table
3. Can the users sort on more than one column ?
4. Can the users group by on more than one column. Nested grouping ?Your users can create their own reports using "Report Builder" provided you
create some report model. Nothing complicated Report Model is basically
imangine as a view with all the tables joined together.
Now all the 4 questions the answer is "YES" and it is possible.

multiple exports files from one report?

Hi
I have a simple report I would like to run for 60 users. Is there a way to
have one report cycle though a dataset and create 60 exported .mhtml files? I
really don't want to create 60 reports and 60 subscriptions :(
All the exported files would reside in the same folder.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
MarcusHi,
You should take a look at the Data Driven subscription. This will enable to
generate multiple reports, with different parameters, just the way you want.

everyone as Site Administration during our testing... weird

Multiple Details In Crystal Report

Hi, I want to create a report which will have two details section in a master section . And I dont want to use subreport. The out put should look like this

MASTER ID - 1001

DETAIL - 1
A - 300
B - 200
C - 400

DETAIL - 2
X- 900
Y- 400

Kindly let me know if anybody has got the solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance|||Include both the tables in the report and link them accordingly.

You can show the groups name in the Group Header and suppress its footer.|||Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.
Let me be a bit more clear about my requirement:

Hi, I want to create a report which will have two details sections ('Details a' and 'Details b') in a single report.

I am having two unrelated tables with multiple rows.

The out put should look like this:

DETAIL - a
A - 300
B - 200
C - 400

DETAIL - b
X- 900
Y- 400
Z- 230

I want the all the records of "DETAIL a" to appear first and then all the records of "DETAIL b" to print. There is no relationship between two tables. How can I do this without using sub reports.

Appreciate your help in advance!!!|||can you post the tables and report ?

Multiple Detail Sections

I have created a report that is using a table with multiple groupings. My
main result set from a stored procedure populates the detail section of the
table. I have a secondary result set that I would like to populate based on a
value from the first result set. For example:
Detail 1 Customer 1
Detail 2 Order 1
Order 2
Order 3
Detail 2 is populated based on the customer id.
How can I accomplish this using the report authoring tool?
Any help would be appreciated.Assuming you are not trying to do a table with groupings, this can be
accomplished with nested "List" items (a list inside of a list) which allow
a free form layout. You just bind each list to the correct dataset for your
detail. See the Sample Reports for an example.

Multiple Default Values of Parameter

I have a report parameter that will either have 1 value to pick from, or multiple values to pick from depending on who is logged in. I want to be able to set the default value to the first result that is returned in the dataset. Is there a simple way to do this without making a new dataset?Hi,

you either need a new dataset or a static value for the default property. You can′t use the dataset as a expression to get the first value of the dataset.

multiple datatables passed to one report?

Is it possible to pass multiple datatables to one report (within one dataset)?

My stored procedure would have two or more select statements.

Only one resultset is supported.

You could add a parameter to the stored procedure (or write a wrapper). The parameter determines which resultset is returned. You would then define multiple datasets in the RS report and call the stored procedure with different parameter values.

Thanks, I guess I need to research multiple datasets in the report. I imagine there is a custom assembly involved?

|||

Using multiple datasets in a report has nothing to do with custom assemblies.

Multiple datasets just means you need to have multiple data regions (list, table, matrix, chart) in the report to show the data.

Multiple datasources in SSRS 2005 reports

Hi,
Is is possible to have multiple analysis Services datasources for a single
report? I want to be able to display measures from both cubes on the same
report with a common dimension without having to redesign my cubes.
Thanks!
BrianThe short answer is yes, but you won't be able to display the measures
side-by-side in the same region if this is what you are after. That's
because you cannot join RS datasets. That said, you can have two regions,
each bound to its own dataset. If you have a virtual cube and your MDX query
pulls data from both cubies than you should be OK.

Multiple Datasources in one report

I am very new to crystal so please excuse if this is a basic request...

We are using Crystal 9.2. I have two datasources, one in oracle and the other in sqlserver. I need to join the two datasources together with the full outer join option, but that option is grayed out in the Links tab in the Database expert window. I basically need to do a UNION ALL between the two datasources, I want to display all the rows from both datasources. Is this possible? What am I missing? Do I need to use a subreport? I need to do grouping/totaling between the two datasources.

What would be ideal, is if I could create a view between the two datasources (using the union all option) and then use that view as the datasource for the report. Is there anything like this available?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!Migrate data and keep them in a single datasource

Multiple datasources

Hi,
I've written a report that uses a matrix to display some data that all
comes from a funky select statement. The report is month based, so
there is a where clause specifying the month in the select
The user now wants to add a Year to Date column. Because of the data
structure of the data i don't believe it is possible to pull the YTD
figure in the same statment.
Is it possible to have one of the columns in a matrix (or any other
control) that is based on a different dataset which takes a parameters
from the matrix row?
I'm guessing theres not, but I just want to make sure, theres alot of
smart people out there :)
Thanks
AndrewWhat you want to do is to investigate subreports. You can embed a subreport
into a column (I have done this). If the subreport returns multiple rows
then that column would go down multiple rows. In your case you will only be
returning a single row. You will want the subreport to be very simple
(obviously) since you are embeding it. Note that the subreport is called for
every row. What I do in this case is hide the report in list view so users
don't see it when selecting a report to run.
To develop a subreport you develop it like a normal report with parameters.
Make sure it works. Drag and drop the report into the column you want (add
an extra column/field that is blank and drop it into it). Then do a right
mouse click on the embeded subreport and select parameters to map the

I'll give that a try

Multiple datasource for a grid

Hello,
I have a report specification with a simple grid with 4 indicators and an
dimension on rows
Indicator 1,2 and 3 are coming from a cube so i retrive the data with a MDX
query
The last indicator come from a SQL Server (2k5) database in another system.
Today we have a set a reports on the cube and a set of reports on the SQL
darabase.
Can i make this kind of reports with 2 datasources in Reporting services
(2k5)?
Regards,
NicolasMaybe. I haven't done this with a cube but I have done it with relational
data. The concern I have is less where the data is coming from but whether
or not you are using a table control or a matrix to show the data. If a
table control I know it will work.Create a sub report (a sub report is just
a regular report with a parameter you will use to tie the sub report to the
base report). Test the sub report (going agains the SQL data).
Create an extra cell in the row on the table grid. Drag and drop the sub
report onto the cell. Do a right mouse click on the sub report and map the
parameter to the appropriate field.

Multiple DataSets w/multiple Lists controls

I understand I can have multiple DataSets in a single report. (Which I've
tried in a test report).
Maybe I'm missing something...but can't I use nested list controls to build
a hierarchical report?
We have
Organization -> Region -> Branch -> Office
Note that I am able to cobble up a report using nested sub reports. Is that
the way it's supposed to be done?
Kyle!Yes. Subreports is how you should do this.

Multiple datasets in one report?

I am trying to create a report that runs four queries.
If I use:
=(Fields!LongValueName.Value, "MTReg") I get:
c:\documents and settings\me\my documents\visual studio
projects\registrations\regVsAct.rdl The value expression
for the textbox 'LongValueName' contains an error:
[BC30198] ')' expected.
If I change it to =(Fields!MTReg.LongValueName.Value)
I get this:
c:\documents and settings\me\my documents\visual studio
projects\registrations\regVsAct.rdl The value expression
for the textbox 'LongValueName' refers to the
field 'MTReg'. Report item expressions can only refer to
fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an
aggregate, the specified data set scope.
Is this possible or am I just messing up the syntax?Looks like you are trying to refer to the field outside of any data regions.
You can change the expression to =First(Fields!LongValueName.Value,
"MTReg").

Actually, as it turned out, I was trying to call a
dataset , say b, when I was using a table that was bound
to databset a. I didn't get that what I'm really dealing
with is a datagrid and that it has a bound connections.
This is what happens when you start depending on the GUI
rather then thinking for yourself. Also it didn't occur to
me that iterators for each of these datasets would be
completely different.
